Hump Day Home Makeover - Ikat Curtains

August 28, 2013

A few years ago I bought these beige ikat curtains from West Elm for my bedroom. They ended up migrating to the living room and are now back in my bedroom in New York. To me this is the testament of a good home decor piece - the ability to mix and match with different styles and settings. For today's Hump Day Home Makeover, I wanted to do something a little bit different than usual and rethink what the living room could be with the same piece. Here are the curtains in the living room from about 3 years ago...

And here's the new look!

Hope you all have been having a great week! This week has been extra special for me because one of my very best friends got engaged yesterday during her trip to Croatia!

A HUGE Congrats to Steph & Eric on your engagement!! Love you both.

Hump Day Home Makeover / Nicole Gibbons Of So Haute

July 31, 2013

Nicole Gibbons from So Haute's living room caught my eye somewhere along my daily blog crawl. There are a lot of pieces in this room that I'm drawn to - the brass coffee table, Greek key trimmed curtains, Louis XVI chair, lucite chair and sun mirror to name a few. My roommate and I have been settling into our newly shared apartment and mixing some of the random decor pieces we have on hand to design our living room. Three of them where featured in Nicole's living room in a totally new style than we are working with and I loved the inspiration.

Here's how you can get the look:

hump day home makeover / design love fest's living room

May 01, 2013

As you know, I'm in the process of redesigning my living room, so today's hump day home makeover is an extra treat...a beautiful bohemian living room AND a great look at the before and after (you know I love those) from Design Love FestHave you discovered this blog yet? I'm surprised I haven't found it earlier, and can already tell it will be a part of my daily reads.

Here's the before:

I came across her bright, colorful and airy living room earlier this week when I was shamelessly stalking fiddle leaf fig trees. The bright blue couch, bright green of the fiddle leaf figs and pops of color throughout the room caught my eye. How amazing is the after of this living room?! I want to live here.

Hump Day Home Makoever - Lonny Living Room

November 14, 2012

I am a huge Restoration Hardware fan and a current resident of an "intimate" New York apartment, so this month's Lonny Magazine that featured an apartment makeover with Restoration Hardware's Big Style Small Spaces was clearly made for me.

I love the white and black contrast with floral and leather accents and white space that make the room feel bigger.

What you need to get Lonny Magazine's editor, Michelle Adam's, makeover look.

While the living room is my favorite, she really did a great job with the entire apartment. A lot of white spaces with space saving tricks throughout the entire apartment.

Update (Week 3 & a half??) / Bedroom Makeover

September 06, 2012

Carrie Bradshaw was right sometimes a girl needs a half. While everyone else in NYC is going crazy for the upcoming Fashion Week, I'm ogling over the new edition of Domino Magazine. And I tell you what, even after a 3 year hiatus from publication, it never seems to disappoint.

In this edition, the editors take readers through their favorites spaces of all timesMy favorite room from this bunch was Amy Kehoe, a principal of L.A. based Nickey Kehoe, Inc. I am completely obsessed with her sense of design, and am now rethinking my entire room plan (let's hope this is the final end to my indecisiveness). I love her approach to the color palette and furniture type in her living room, and turns out it's a perfect solve for how to make my vintage vanity fit into my overall bedroom scheme without having to paint over the tiger maple.

Here's my inspiration from Amy Kehoe:

Domino Magazine Fall/Winter 2012
Needing to make up for three weeks I've already wasted in my bedroom makeover (thank you indecisiveness) and get my room in shape for my out of town guests later this month, I hopped right into this new project last night - my rendition of Mark Milroy's woodblock print. I hung it up last night, and am already obsessed!
