Hump Day Home Makeover // Boho Bedding

May 30, 2012

Furbish Studio's online shop is one of my current favorite online shops for home decor. The store has a great start up story too (hello dream job). Jamie Meares, author of I Suwannee, started the blog, then established an online store and ultimately opened the flagship in Raleigh. I have been drooling over the items in her online shop, and most recently the image below that inspired this week's Hump Day Home Makeover.

Hump Day Home Makeover // Minimalist Bedroom

May 23, 2012

This week has been SUPER busy. I flew to NYC last Sunday for a quick 2 day work trip, and am now getting ready for some of my college friends to come into town!

So...this week's Hump Day Home Makeover's theme is simplicity. After a busy day, I'd love to come home to such a simple bedroom to relax and unwind.

I am currently obsessed with the prints from Coza Mia. They are bright and full of color, and I love how she displays her art. This week's Hump Day Home Makeover was inspired by the image below from Coza Mia's blog featuring the Flamingo Mingle print.

Atlanta Seafood Spots

May 12, 2012

From left to right...

Atlanta Fish Market - 265 Pharr Road NE
The Fish Market is a landmark in Buckhead (much like the Big Chicken in Alpharetta). You can't miss the big fish jutting out of the woodwork on Pharr Road. The restaurant is a part of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group (including restaurants like Chops, Pricci, the late Blue Pointe :(, etc). This is one of my favorite restaurants during months with "r" i.e. Oyster season. I highly recommend a glass of the Albarino or Muscadet and some oysters on the half shell. They also have great sushi (the chef was trained by the sushi chef at Bluepointe). I'd recommend the Lobster Maki Roll, the Volcano Roll or the Tiger Roll, and a glass of the Peter Friemuth Riesling.

Starfish Sushi - 2255 Peachtree Rd NE # E
This is my go to sushi restaurant in Atlanta. The staff is super friendly, and the food is great. My order recommendation? Food: Edamame, golden pompano, spicy tuna sashimi, Sin City Roll, Kung Fu Panda Roll and the Iron Man Roll (pictured below). Wine: Hook and Ladder Chardonnay, Bear Boat Pinot Noir, or the Dr. Pauly Riesling.

JCT Kitchen - 1198 Howell Mill Road #18
Whether you sit in the more formal dining room downstairs or at the casual bar upstairs, you have the option to get my favorite thing on the menu - the Angry Mussels. They are by far the best mussels in Atlanta, and come with toasted bread for dipping. Make sure you call before going though because the downstairs and upstairs restaurants are frequently rented out for private events.

Gift Ideas for Mom // Under $60

May 09, 2012

With Mother's Day coming up this Sunday, I wanted to share some great gift ideas for Mom that you can still get in time. All of the items below are under $60 and can be found locally in Atlanta (and most online, scroll down for links).

1. Perrine's Wine Shop - Handmade Candle - Perrine takes recycled wine bottles and uses 100% soy wax to create these candles. They make a great gift and come in a variety of scents.

2. Festivity - Earrings - Love these classic earrings, but Festivity also has a lot of great frames, candles, kitchen gear, clothes, accessories and jewelry.

3. Tom's - Crochet Classics - I love this pair of Tom's Classics. They are perfect for summer and really comfortable. You can get them at Nordstroms, Abbadabbas, and the Buckhead Whole Foods.

4. Anthropologie - Scarf - A great scarf for summer. You can get it at the Anthropologie on the Westside, Lenox Mall or Perimeter, but I would recommend calling first to make sure they have it in stock.

5. Jonathan Adler - Gothic Rose iPad Cover - Love this colorful pattern! You can get it at the Jonathan Adler on the Westside.

Most of these products are also available online - 2/3/4/5

Hump Day Home Makeover // Foyer

May 09, 2012

This week's Hump Day Home Makeover was inspired by an image from a foreign magazine (best guess it's Scandinavian?). So needless to say, despite loving the entire look I was not able to find any of the products used in the picture. That being said, it makes for a perfect image for this week's HDHM edition.
